Welcome to Minnetonka Rugby
The Minnetonka Rugby Football Club (MRFC) was formed in 1999 to provide training and recreational rugby for boys and girls of high school age in the Minnetonka area. While the game is intense and physical, the sport has a place for all body types,   and all levels of experience and skill. Our focus is first and foremost to have fun, followed by   excellence of play and camaraderie.

About The Game
Rugby is a game similar to football with an artful combination of running, passing, kicking and tackling.  Unlike football, the play doesn't stop once the ball carrier is tackled.  The play continues with both teams "rucking" or "mauling" to gain possession of the ball and to continue the advance.  Each team fields 15 players and at the high school level the games are 30 minute halves.

Rugby has a legacy for respect on the field and camaraderie after the match.  On the field the referee is only addressed by the team captain and is always addressed as "Sir".  After the match, the home team provides a meal which allows both teams the time and the environment to socialize.  Over time, this makes the greater rugby community one big happy family.

Where We Play

Indoor practices are held in the gym at Minnetonka High School until the weather is warm enough for outdoor play. Practices and home games are held on the Minnetonka Middle School East (MME) athletic fields.
